About
The RoyalZ is RedZone's an all-girls football club that is active annually for a spring & summer season.
Age Groups
We intend to have a team in each the 10u, 12u, & 14u age divisions in 2026. Players qualify for the age group that corresponds with their age on January 1, 2026. A player is permitted to play up in an older age division.
Team Makeup
The club is based in the Iowa City area, our club is open to participants from any school/community. We prioritize player development and team building. There are no tryouts.
Prospective Tournament Schedule
We are not committed to any of these events yet and likely will not play in all of them. These are the ones that are available if we have enough players available on those dates.

Practice
Practices are tentatively set to begin the week of March 20 and will regularly occur once per week. Additional practice(s) will be scheduled during the weeks of events we're entering teams in. Best practice days and locations are still being determined; we're seeking player input for that on the pre-registration form.
2026 Club Registration
Joining the RoyalZ girls football club for the 2026 season, has four financial components.
1. $100 Enrollment Fee This covers all practices & training plus uniform/equipment rental
2. Per Tournament Fee When an age group has enough players available to enter a team into an event, each player participating in that event will owe a $50 tournament fee.
3. $15 MidAmerica 7v7 Age Verification Fee If we play in an event, participants will need to age verify with a 3rd party for tournament oversight, a $15 annual fee.
4. Personal Equipment Fee Players will have the option to get a personalized uniform top and their own helmet/shorts as opposed to burrowing or renting from the club.
Can a player join the club without plans to play in an event? Yes, the enrollment fee gets them started. Tournament participation (and personal uniform/equipment) can be decided on and paid at a later time once we have enough to commit to playing in an event.

Administration & Coaching
The RoyalZ club offers top layer of objective, non-parent leadership that is invested in the development and experience of every player. These leaders are adept at implementing our systems for our players and other coaches; they have strong influence with decisions based on playing time, key positions, and other strategic considerations. We also rely on parent coaching as well to help with practice efficiency and to cover multiple teams playing at the same time. These parents are semi-volunteers and are expected to be present at a majority of team events. Preference is given to those previously involved with the program and/or other 7v7 and football coaching.
Historical Notes
RedZone launched the RoyalZ girls football club in the spring of 2025. A group of 50+ participants completed a 6-week training schedule that culminated with playing in the Iowa girl's state football tournament, the first and only one available in the area. Members have continued to train with the club as the number of girls football teams and events is expected to explode for the 2026 spring & summer season.
2025 royalz recap
We couldn't have had a better launch to our girls club than we did in the spring of 2025. More than 50 girls in grades 3rd-9th and an all-star lineup of coaches were part of the first RoyalZ teams ever. The groups practiced hard, showcased their skills during halftime show at a professional game, and played in the first ever Iowa Girls State flag football tournament. While the event did not officially crown a champion, our players were phenomenal in many more victories than defeats. There were so many exciting, highlight plays; see some in the KCRG video below!
